Robotic Pool Cleaner Repair in Roswell & Alpharetta: Common Problems and Fixes
Before you replace your robot, find out what is actually wrong. Many problems are simpler than they look.

Most robotic pool cleaner problems come down to a clogged filter, a blocked impeller, a tangled cable, worn brushes or tracks, or a power supply issue. Start with a few quick checks at home. If the robot still is not working, bring it to Pool Supply Atlanta at 2900 Holcomb Bridge Rd in Alpharetta and we will look it over and give you an honest answer on whether a repair makes sense.
Why robots stop working properly
Robotic cleaners are self-contained machines with their own motor, pump, filter and drive system. That makes them efficient, but it also means several parts can wear or clog over time. One worn brush or a bit of hair wrapped around the impeller can make the whole robot act like it is broken.
Common robotic cleaner problems
| Problem | What usually causes it |
|---|---|
| Will not power on | A power supply issue, a tripped outlet, a damaged cable or a connection problem |
| Not climbing walls | A dirty filter, a blocked impeller, or worn brushes or tracks losing grip |
| Moving but not picking up debris | A full or clogged filter, or debris jammed in the impeller |
| Cable tangling or twisting | A worn swivel, or the cable not being laid out straight |
| Going in circles or getting stuck | Worn tracks or brushes, or a drive issue |
| Floating or not sinking | Air trapped inside the unit |
Quick checks you can do at home
Always unplug the power supply before inspecting your robot.
- •Clean the filter basket or bag thoroughly. This alone fixes a lot of problems.
- •Check the impeller for hair, leaves or small debris wrapped around it.
- •Untangle the cable and lay it out straight in the sun to relax any twists.
- •Look at the brushes and tracks for wear, tears or slipping.
- •Make sure the outlet is working and any GFCI outlet has not tripped.
- •If the robot floats, tilt it underwater to release trapped air before letting it sink.
If these checks do not fix it, a worn part or internal issue is the likely cause.

Repair or replace?
If your robot is otherwise in good shape, replacing a worn brush, track, cable or filter part can bring it back to life. If it has multiple failing parts or a major internal problem, replacement may be the better value. We will give you a straight answer either way, and we never push a new cleaner you do not need.
Keeping your robot running longer
- •Clean the filter after every cycle.
- •Take the robot out of the pool when it finishes rather than leaving it in the water.
- •Store the power supply out of direct sun and rain.
- •Keep your water balanced, since water that is badly out of balance is hard on any equipment.
