Polaris Cleaner Troubleshooting: How to Keep Your Robot In Top Shape

Polaris 280, 380, and 3900 cleaners are workhorses in Georgia backyards, but worn drive belts or clogged backup valves can slow them down.
Problem 1: Cleaner Is Moving Slowly or Stuck. Check the inline filter screen inside the wall quick-disconnect fitting. Debris often clogs this mesh screen, starving the cleaner of pressure.
Problem 2: Cleaner Lays on Its Side. Inspect the head float at the rear of the cleaner. If water has leaked inside the float, replace the float tail.
Problem 3: Backup Valve Stuck Open. The backup valve should cycle high pressure every 3.5 minutes to pull the cleaner out of corners. If water spurts out constantly, the internal mechanism is worn out.
